THE INCARNATION OF CHRIST IN YOU

THE SPIRIT AND LIFE OF JESUS IN YOU

THEEND44

Those who advance the new creation are the same people who are the spirit and life of Jesus manifest. They are the Church Jesus has built without human hands. When the Spirit manifests in us and in our work, heaven comes to earth. We need not become ascetics seeking godliness by separation from the world of creativity and industry.

CHRIST OUR UNION WITH GOD
Genuine Godliness is realised as
our life in Every Day, incarnated with the presence of the trinity. There is no sacred and secular in this post cross life. God has made the two one. The illusions of the dichotomised good and evil realm have been expelled and our oneness with God has made a world that continually rejoices in the agency of God incarnated people. In the post cross age, we have a sacramental life. New life is Jesus manifest as us in marriage, family, society and in the Earth.

DUALISM ENDED
‘For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility’ Eph 2.14 NIV.
When Paul says that Jesus has made the two one, he’s not only talking about the Gentiles. He means the dualistic illusion of the knowledge of good and evil in Adam’s un-real reality. This division has been undone in Jesus Christ.

THAT INNER LAND
Observation reveals that not a few people have no inner life or not an inner life that they are aware of. Some do very well at securing an economic life but have little inner life to speak of. This means they live as an undeveloped self with scant knowledge of who they are or of the richness that can be found in the lives of associates who do know themselves and Jesus Christ whom God has sent.

MISSED THE PRIZE
We can live our lives with reverence for the law and go to God without ever having made real progress into the glory of us during our life in the Body – because we lived in forms of insulation from the Spirit of Christ. We lived externalities and became an externality. The worst cases of this are the Hollow Men described in
The Wasteland with headpiece filled with straw. The bottom line is that our churches can be rivers of living water or a Wasteland.

SELF DECEPTION
The tragedy is that these insulating layers of self-made grace, are too often our religion and our inherited notions that are actually ‘other gospels’ of un-life.
MANY CHRISTIANS NOT RE-BORN
Everyone has an inner life and a real self that is waiting to emerge to be who one is as a son/daughter in Father. When Jesus spoke to Nicodemus, He was alerting Him to the fact of his real self that longs for oneness with God. Jesus was also warning him that this self cannot be known through externalities because the knowledge of it is a revelation that comes to us through Christ and our communion with God in the One Spirit.
New birth is not initially about morality. It’s about our move from religion to oneness with God. We get an inner life by agreeing with Christ that we are joined to God.
ACTIVE, DEPLETED, SELF
Mary was more sensitised to this core life than Martha who was intent on being the kind of self that was far less than she could have been if she had been following Mary’s path. Jesus gently told Martha that what Mary had chosen was better – because it was -  for the inner and outer life. Martha probably learned from this episode and went on to become a life-giving disciple of Jesus. But she illustrated the fact that Christians can take offence when it is suggested that there are people who are more spiritual than they. More spiritual because they  know that real life is found in oneness with Christ.
SPIRITUALITY IS UNION WITH GOD
‘Realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20.
Thomas Torrance has been cited in these posts because of His focus on the
mediation of Christ and the incarnation. It’s direct. The core of Kingdom Life is not that we are doing stuff but that we are one with God and that in Christ we participate in God’s trinitarian life. This makes us healed people in our inner person and competant healers of those who do not know God. It means that when we work, we work as givers of spirit and life – not as workers and slaves.
AT HOME WITH GOD
‘Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them’ John 14.23 NIV. His teaching is that He Himself is our life – not religion, not the law, not self-made worthiness and not any mode of self-generated entitlement.
DOOR TO YOUR LIFE IN GOD
Davis Marshall repeats the truth that, “
Spiritual inquiry is the search to discover our real self and the Real God. The Christian gospel says that this discovery of true self and True God is made through Jesus Christ. He is the door into what Christians call salvation, redemption or freedom. Jesus said, “If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36) Jesus said, “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved.” (John 10:9) To use Christian terminology, Christ is the mediator between God and man. In Christ is the union of spirit with Spirit - human spirit with Divine Spirit.” (1)
It's our union with the One Spirit that makes us, ‘us’. It’s your oneness with the Spirit of God that makes you, you. That makes you alive and a life-giver. We sel people short when we offer them religion but we are not alive.
